Read: Perry & Zane Township Comprehensive Plan (2011)
About the Plan (Background Information)
In 2007, the Logan County Commissioners updated the Logan County Comprehensive Plan. At that time, the Commissioners recognized a gap in community planning at the micro-local level, such as Perry and Zane Townships.
This micro-level approach enables implementation of specific goals and objectives for the improvement of those communities. “Perry and Zane Townships were two of the first townships to express interest in creating a comprehensive plan, and ultimately the only two townships to move forward with the endeavor. This plan is the result of both county and township officials commitment to planning for well managed growth into the future.”
The trustees of both Perry and Zane Townships worked as a team on the creation of a comprehensive plan.
While there are number of issues for discussion in a comprehensive plan, residents from both townships expressed their strong desire to maintain the rural, peaceful atmosphere of their communities. While this plan will look at other areas, all recommendations will keep this key element in mind. Likewise, officials should keep this central desire of residents in mind when making decisions.
“Goals are not worth much if they do not reach fruition.”
The most meaningful reason for creation of the Perry and Zane Township Comprehensive Plan is to make the area an attractive place to live and work, and to improve the quality life of residents. The plan should be used as a tool to guide local decisions and policies, as the ideals contained within are a direct reflection of the desires of residents and local officials. At the same time, the plan should be used to protect the physical environment and natural resources of the community through managed growth, keeping in mind the most important aspect of the area to its residents – the peaceful rural environment.
