Enid Trabert’s Maple Syrup Pie

As we approach the America’s 250th birthday in 2026, its fun to look back to our local bicentennial celebrations — we were so patriotic then! Locally, the Union Chapel Church on State Route 287 organized their members of the Community Aid group and published a cookbook of favorite recipes of the day. Remember 7-Up salad? It’s in there. Ham Loaf? Ditto.

Given the Zane Township history of sugar shacks and maple syrup, Enid’s recipe struck a nerve. As the spring thaw approaches and temperatures range between freezing during the day and below freezing overnight, the maple syrup will be flowing like sweet goodness.

If you have a little extra, try Enid’s recipe. Your family will love you for it.
